HP Pro mt440 G3 Mobile Thin Client (4W5B0AV)

We have a Fleet of HP thin client desktop/laptops running HP ThinOS, we currently have an issue of our laptop estate not doing audio pass through for USB and analog audio devices, the settings are identical between both devices. Audio passthrough succeeds for the desktop thin clients but no the laptops. We are using AVD connection app built into HP ThinOS. Has anyone come across this issue and has a potential solution?

Kind Regards,

Declan

Hi  @Lorph

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you are managing a fleet of HP Thin Clients and that audio passthrough is working correctly on your desktop devices but not on the HP Pro mt440 G3 Mobile Thin Client when using  AVD through HP ThinOS. I will be glad to help you check this further.

To better understand the behaviour, could you kindly confirm the below details :

  • Whether the issue occurs with both USB audio devices and the built-in 3.5mm audio jack.
  • Are audio devices being detected locally by ThinOS before connecting to AVD?
  • Does the issue occur with all users or only specific user accounts?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

  1. Verify Audio Redirection Settings
    • Sign in to ThinOS and navigate to the AVD connection settings.
    • Confirm that audio input and output redirection are enabled.
    • Compare the configuration directly with a working desktop Thin Client.
  2. Test Local Audio Detection
    • Connect a known working USB headset.
    • Verify whether the device appears in ThinOS local audio settings before launching the AVD session.
  3. Recreate the AVD Connection
    • Remove and recreate the AVD connection profile on one affected device.
    • Test audio passthrough again after reconnecting.
  4. Test Alternative Audio Devices
    • Test with another USB headset and another analog audio device to determine whether the behavior is device-specific.

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
