Hi again,

After some more tryings I got something. When I insert rams as per attached foto and following, it works and HP recognyze 2.5 Gb (1.99 usable)

1. Upper slot 2Gb new ram (tried both and worked)

2. Back slot 512 mb old ram

I changed same rams on slots and got four (4) short beps:

1. Upper slot 512 mb old ram

2. Back slot 2 Gb new ram

Inserting the two new 2 Gb rams, appears black screen without beeps. I tried to connect to an external monitor and remains black (but it worked as up first trying comented)

If I can get 2.5 Gb, I'm hopefully to find a way to have 4. But don't know why it doesn't work using new one on back slot, with old or new on upper slot.

Thank you so much again for your comments, I really apreciate your help in this issue.

PD. I attached a foto of the 512 mb I'm using

BestRegards

Hi:

Unfortunately, I don't know why the memory is not working.

You have the latest BIOS update that supports 2 x 2 GB memory modules, and your PC is acting like the BIOS update didn't work.

It is performing the way it would have if you had not installed the latest BIOS update.

Hi again,

I'll back to windows Vista and try to update bios (I read that an updating from Win7 can crash laptop..), and if works or not I'll give you the last feedback!

Thanks again for your help and support! Really apreciate it!

Have a nice day,

Best Regards

Un saludo

Hi:

F.2E is the last BIOS revision and that update would have included all of the previous updates, including the one that allows for 4 GB of memory.

I wonder if the T2080 processor your notebook has supports 4 GB of memory?

Maybe it only supports 2 GB.

I looked up the specs on the Intel site and there is no info on that.

You have a nice day too!

Hi again,

Thanks for all your info, and apologyze for don't give a prompt answer!

I went back to Win Vista, updated Bios with same F.2E (was not able to find any other newer...) and new rams togheter unanfortunately didn't work...

Point is If my HP doesn't support 4gb, it shouldn't have worked with 2gb+512 mb, but it did it...finally and probably is that only supports max. 2 gb, despite of some (lucky) users got it...

I returned rams to Amazon, and perhaps in future I will try with another diferent ram's brand... not sure, but if it will works I will back to you.

In the meantime, I want to say thanks again for your help and support, and wish you a nice sumer. I hope you'll enjoy holidays! 🙂

Best regards

Un saludo
