Hello all,

I have spent countless hours googling, reading through forms, deleting and updating drivers over and over again... and still, my laptop is not recognizing the internal speakers and microphone. I have ran the diagonistic tool, and "Hardware Device Issue" is the result.

I then attempted to update/reinstall all audio drivers.

There is still one driver that has a yellow exclamation mark that I believe is causing the issue.... "Intel High Definition Audio"

Please help... as I am losing my mind.

I had the exact same problem. Same computer model, same Windows version (Windows 10 Home 22H2).  I was able to resolve the issue as follows:

1. Open Device Manager (right-click on Windows/Start button, select Device Manager).

2. Under the Sound, video and game controllers section, right-click on the device with the exclamation point, and select Update Driver.

3. In the window that opens, select Browse my computer for drivers

4. Then click on Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer.

5. You should get a screen like shown below. If so, scroll down to (and select) Sound, video and game controllers, and click the Next button.

6. In the next window that opens, scroll down until the Manufacturer column shows Realtek, and select Realtek High Definition Audio Version: 6.0.9103.1.  Click the Next button.

7.You will probably get a warning indicating that installation of the driver is not recommended, but ignore the warning and click Yes.

Your audio should now work.

Had exactly the same issue with my HP Pavilion x360 Laptop- 14m-dw0023dx. Also spent many hours and many updates and did not address the issue. Turns out it can be an easy fix.

Open Device Manager.

System Devices -> Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) Audio Controller (the one with a ?) -> Update Driver (right click) -> Search Automatically for drivers

After this, a couple of devices should reappear, which includes those under "Sound, video and game controllers" and "Audio inputs and outputs".

Not sure why they disappear, but the problem was solved.

Hope this helps, and good luck!
