Microsoft Windows 11

I'm trying to record audio from my laptop HP 14 Laptop PC 14-d5000 (4T802AV), using OBS studio.

It doesn't seem to capture the audio on OBS, but does on my desktop using the same software, except th desktop is running Windows 10. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks

Hi  @Pinesdweller,

I understand how  it can be when your Studio software works correctly on one device but doesn't capture audio on this unit, I'll try my best to help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you kinldy provide a few additional details?

  • Can you confirm the exact model number of your HP laptop? (Link for steps to find the exact model - click here )
  • Are you trying to record:
    • Desktop/system audio?
    • Microphone audio?
    • Or both?
  • Have you noticed whether audio recording works correctly in other applications, such as Voice Recorder or Teams?

In the meantime, kindly try the below steps and confirm :

  1. Verify OBS Audio Sources
    • Open OBS Studio.
    • Go to Settings - Audio.
    • Ensure the correct speakers/output device is selected under Desktop Audio.
    • Ensure the correct microphone is selected under Mic/Auxiliary Audio.
  2. Check Windows Sound Settings
    • Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
    • Verify the correct output and input devices are selected.
    • Test the devices to confirm Windows is detecting audio properly.
  3. Review Audio Permissions
    • Go to Settings -Privacy & Security -Microphone.
    • Make sure microphone access is enabled and apps are allowed to access the microphone.
  4. Disable Audio Enhancements
    • Go to Sound Settings - More Sound Settings.
    • Open the properties of your playback device.
    • Disable audio enhancements and test again.

I hope this helps.
