Dear reader,

Two days ago, I turned on my notebook and plugged in my headphones, but did not get the notification that headphones were plugged in. And indeed, when I tried to play sound from my notebook, it came from my normal speakers and not through my headphones. This happened suddenly, from one day onto the other. The day before this happened, the headphones were still detected and worked as normal. In between the time that the laptop was turned on, it was turned off and neatly placed onto a desk and has therefore not experienced damage of any sorts that could have caused the sudden change.

I tried many things to get my headphones to be detected. I wanted to update the drivers, but they were already updated fully. I deleted RealTek drivers and reinstalled them, but it did not work. Also, the native audio manager did not detect my headphones either. I tried to install an older version of RealTek drivers to see if this might work, but this also did not solve the problem. I ran all Windows updates, but these did not fix the problem either. Obviously, I tried if different headphones were able to connect. So far, nothing has helped and my headphones are still not detected.

I included two pictures of the sound settings. The "mic in at front panel (black)" is not plugged in according to my laptop. This does not change when I plug in my headphones. They are really not detected and I do not know how to fix it.

I am pretty hopeless, I hope you can help me out!

Have a good day and thanks in advance! 🙂

Fixed it myself just now! I took a vacuum cleaner and held it against my headphone jack. There must have either been something in there (perhaps dust?) or the headphone jack is a little loose and has been sucked back forward (although I don't think its loose since I would have noticed). Either way, it works now! So much for repeatedly removing drivers and continuously redownloading them. Will keep this post up in case someone else might need it! Sometimes, simplicity is key. :TongueOut:
