Today I received new headphones as my last ones broke. I used my headphones and they worked perfectly fine. Then later on I was made aware that the audio was also coming out of my speakers even though I could hear it through my headphones, as well. I looked online for multiple solutions and that led me to realizing that my headphones are listed as "not plugged in" when I went to try to set them as my default device. My headphones are working with my iphone and the audio isn't coming out of my speakers there. I also checked and made sure that my computer supported 3.5 mm headphones as it always has, and these headphones are the exact same length.
To figure out if it was just those headphones I checked two other sets (beats and then the broken headphones) to see if the audio was still coming through the headphones and the speakers and they were. The headphones were also listed as "not plugged in". This has never happened to me before and it was working fine just yesterday. I don't know what's wrong or how to fix it so any help would be appreciated.

Greetings @Sophie83540,
Thanks for the post.
I understand that you are getting audio from both speakers and headphones, is that right?
Not to worry, I will be glad to assist you.
Kudos to you for trying to troubleshoot the issue on your own.
Please do a right-click on the Windows button and open device manager.
Once you have the device manager open, expand "sound, video and game controller".
Uninstall the audio driver listed there by doing a right-click on it.
Run HP Support Assistant on your computer to install it back and update all the drivers.
Refer to this HP article for assistance in using HPSA.
Reinstalling the driver will resolve the issue you are facing.
Keep me posted.
