Hi, when I plug in headphones it doesn't automatically switch from the main speaker. To get head phones to work I then have to go into settings, and disable the main speaker before the sound will come through headphones. Surely there's an easier way and this should just happen automatically....can anyone help?

Cheers

Rich

@Richreeves,

I reviewed your post and I understand that the headphones not switching automatically when connected to the computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

You can just click on the speaker icon on the right-side bottom on your screen and switch between the audio devices.

To automatically switch between the audio devices, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. Right click on sound icon on taskbar.
  2. Troubleshoot sound problems.
  3. Select headphones and speakers and run the troubleshooter.

And also Run Hardware and device troubleshooter.

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with hardware and devices. I would suggest you to run this troubleshooter to check if the issue is with your devices. Refer these steps:

  1. Press Windows key +X, select Control panel.
  2. Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons.
  3. Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel.
  4. Run the Hardware and devices troubleshooter.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
