My notebook has one audio jack, left front black, it has the symbol next to it with a headset with a mic so I know its a dual port, the headset I use is a 4 pin so the jack should be able to broadcast sound and input my mic, the problem is, I can hear fine thru it, but it doesnt detect the mic.
I have two things to select in my sound settings, Microphone (realtek) and Mic in at front panel black, if its set to the first people can hear me thru the laptop mic and they say it is very bad, if I select the other and talk, they hear nothing, neither can I and the laptop detects no sound.
Windows update is up to date, all drivers are up to date and when I plug my headset into my phone people can hear me perfect thru the headset mic so the mic is not the problem.
Any help?

Do you mean rings ? What is your headset. It may not be a P-n-P device, you need to install driver for it.
Regards.
