15" Spectre X360 DF0001tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Untitled.jpg

I bought this laptop for audio production as it has a 6 (12 logical) core processor with 16 gb ram. I keep getting audio glitches and spikes even when using an external audio interface for recording. My 7 year old i5 imac handles audio better without spikes. This laptop was bought to replace it.

It keeps saying the ACPI.sys is what is causing it. I have updated bios and windows to the latest 1609 build and have software centre installed with everything up to date. My understanding is that it should average at 500 on the scale or under to ensure glitch free audio.
How can I achieve this? I also have a HP Spectre x360 - 13-4128tu which doesnt seem to have these problems and is able to handle audio glitch free. This computer should be much more capable than the old 13".

Any help solving this would be much appreciated.

Thanks

-Steve

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Firstly, let's perform a Hard reset on the notebook: A power reset (or hard restart) clears all information from the computer's memory without erasing any personal data.

Next Step: BIOS Defaults - (After hard reset follow the below steps while starting the computer)
1) Shutdown the computer.
2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.
3) Press F10 once for BIOS.
4) Press F9 for BIOS defaults.
5) Press F10 to save and exit.

Next step: Uninstall ACPI

1. Go to Start, search for Device Manager, and open this result.

2. Expand batteries.

3. Right-click on the ACPI option (usually the 2nd option) and select delete or uninstall. Follow the prompts.

4. Shut down the computer.

5. Disconnect the charger.

6. Remove the battery. (not for sealed battery computer)

7. Hold down the power button for 1 minute.

8. Insert the battery only.

9. Attempt to turn the battery on.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance.

Thanks for the response. What do you mean "disconnect the battery", I cant opent this thing up and disconnect the battery without voiding the warrenty or reducing the stickyness of the rubber strips on the bottom (I watched a technician do this to the previous unit I had.

Disconnecting or removing the battery component is part of troubleshooting steps. However, this step is only for removable battery computer.

You can skip this step.

Keep me posted for further assistance.
