Every time I plug my headphones into my laptop, there is an intermittent high-pitched 'zipping' sound that occurs. The noise is horrible; it makes my skin crawl. It only happens every so often, but I can count on it to happen not too long after first inserting my headphones. It curiously never occurs when audio is actually playing; only when no sound is on. This is quite jarring as I may pause a video for a few brief seconds and the noise will occur. It also changes with the volume - if my volume setting is on low while no audio is playing, the sound will occur at that volume.

This noise never happens when I use my earphones in other devices and I have changed earphones 3 times now, but the same problem occurs with my laptop. It has been happening since I bought my HP.

I have tried looking at other forums to find a solution, but no one seems to have the specific issue that I do.

Please help.
