I just got a new laptop, Pavilion dv7. One of my little quirks is, how can I silence the right and left click on the touchpad? When I am working in a quiet area it is a bit annoying hearing the click....click....click, HELP! Thanks

Hi,
Please try this:
http://www.ehow.com/how_6796963_stop-touchpad-clicking.html
or this
http://www.worldstart.com/stop-that-clicking-sound/ (can be used for Windows 7).

I have just got the same laptop and find the clicking noise very annoying, and if you go anywhere such as a library it will be frowned on. I must admit because it is so noisy in the shop it is not noticable. I have just turned off the noise for all the functions, to find this so annoying.

The only answer is to buy a different computer. The "clik" is designed into the right and left buttons. It's mechanical. Settings changes have no effect at all. The bottons produce that annoying sound even with the laptop turned off. Why HP did this I have no idea. You can avoid the left button entirely and use double tap on the pad itself. Silence finally, but there is no solution or option to the "right click" button. It just clicks away, forever.
