Hi @TT1591,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your microphone connectivity!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

First, check if your microphone is enabled in Windows. Press Windows + I to open Settings, click System, then Sound. Scroll down to Input and see if your microphone appears. If it says "Not Connected," continue to the next step.

Enable your microphone in Device Manager by pressing Windows + X, selecting Device Manager, and expanding Audio inputs and outputs. Find your microphone (it should be "Internal Microphone" or "Realtek Audio"), right-click it, and choose Enable (if disabled). If it’s missing, right-click anywhere and select Scan for hardware changes.

Next, allow microphone access for apps. Press Windows + I, go to Privacy & Security, click Microphone, and make sure Microphone access is ON. Scroll down and turn on microphone access for Zoom.

Set the correct microphone as default by right-clicking the speaker icon in the taskbar, selecting Sounds, and clicking the Recording tab. Find your microphone in the list, right-click it, and set it as Default Device. Click Apply and OK.

Update or reinstall audio drivers by pressing Windows + X, opening Device Manager, expanding Sound, video and game controllers, right-clicking Realtek High Definition Audio (or similar), choosing Update driver, and selecting Search automatically. If that doesn't work, select Uninstall device and restart your laptop.

Test your microphone by going to Settings, selecting Sound, and scrolling to Input. Speak into the mic and see if the blue bar moves. If it does, it’s working. If not, try using an external mic to check if the internal mic is faulty.

Finally, test in Zoom by opening the app, clicking Settings, going to Audio, selecting your microphone, and clicking Test Mic. Speak and see if you hear playback.
