I installed a Lexar 1TB SSD and a short time after that the sound completely disappeared, there is no detection of the Audio Output device on my laptop and it is frustrating because I have only recently bought this laptop. The driver updates have not changed anything and customer support is also non-existent despite the device being under factory warranty.

Hi @JLabs79

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand how frustrating this situation must be, especially with a brand-new laptop. Let's work together to resolve this issue and get your audio back.

Here are some detailed steps you can follow:

Step 1: Check Device Manager

  1. Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
  2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
  3. Look for Realtek High Definition Audio or any audio device. If it's missing, proceed to the next step.

Step 2: Reinstall Audio Drivers

  1. In Device Manager, right-click on any audio device (if present) and select Uninstall device.
  2. Visit the HP Support website and search for your laptop model (OMEN by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-xf0000).
  3. Download the latest Realtek High-Definition Audio Driver for Windows 11.
  4. Install the driver and restart your laptop.

Step 3: Use HP Support Assistant

  1. Open the HP Support Assistant application on your laptop.
  2. Go to the My devices tab and select your laptop.
  3. Check for any available updates or drivers specifically related to audio and install them.

Step 4: Install Realtek Audio Console

  1. Open the Microsoft Store from your Start menu.
  2. Search for Realtek Audio Console and install it.
  3. This software often provides additional audio control features.

Step 5: BIOS Update (Optional)

  1. Check if your laptop's BIOS is up-to-date. An outdated BIOS can sometimes cause hardware detection issues.
  2. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS update for your laptop model.

Step 6: Reset Windows Audio Services

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Locate Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder in the list.
  3. Right-click each service, select Restart, and ensure their startup type is set to Automatic.
