Example: Pavilion 6530HP Envy17t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an HP Envy 17t Win 10 64bit.

I have a Pioneer receiver connected via HDMI to the laptop.

If the screen goes to sleep while the receiver is on, the laptop makes the connect and disconnect chime non-stop. I thought Windows took care of this.

I reset my laptop about 2 weeks ago, and that did not make a difference. I do not want to turn the disconnect sound off as this may result in another issue.

How can I stop this from happening?

Thank you for your reply.

Will there be any negative results to the system or any components as a result of doing this?

I assume not but I just want to be assured.
