I recently got the new Spectre x360 (13-AE013DX). It has a single audio jack. If I connect a microphone to it, I lose audio, and I don't see a new microphone device at the Recording Devices. What would be the proper way of using an external microphone on my laptop?

Many headphones/mic combo jacks don't support standalone microphones. Many members tried splitters but the successful rate is 50/50.
Please use USB adapter/soundcard to connect, for example
