Dear HP Support Team, I am experiencing an issue with my HP Envy laptop concerning the AMD graphics driver. After installing the latest driver, I am not able to access HD graphics capabilities, and the performance has significantly declined. Here are the details of my setup:

  • Model: HP Envy x360
  • Processor: AMD Ryzen 5 (specific model if known)
  • Current Driver Version: (insert current version)
  • Operating System: (insert OS version)

Despite following standard troubleshooting steps, including uninstalling the existing drivers using Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) and reinstalling the latest drivers from both the HP and AMD websites, the problem persists. The system does not recognize the HD graphics capabilities, leading to subpar performance in applications that require higher graphics processing.I would appreciate your guidance on how to resolve this issue effectively. If there are specific drivers or updates I should be aware of, please let me know.

Hi @Jane_Doe00,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to assist you.

To resolve the AMD graphics driver issue on your HP Envy x360 laptop, here's a step-by-step guide tailored to your situation:

1. Ensure BIOS and Chipset Drivers are Up to Date

  • Visit the HP Support website and enter your laptop’s model or serial number.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS and chipset drivers.
  • Restart the system after updating these components.

2. Perform a Clean Installation of AMD Drivers

  • Uninstall Existing Drivers Completely:
    1. Use Display Driver Uninstaller (DDU) in Safe Mode to remove all traces of AMD drivers.
    2. Restart the system.
  • Download the Correct AMD Driver:
    1. Go to the AMD Drivers & Support page.
    2. Enter your GPU model (e.g., AMD Radeon RX Vega 10).
    3. Download the latest Adrenalin Edition driver for your GPU and OS.
  • Install the Driver:
    1. Run the AMD installer as an administrator.
    2. Select Factory Reset during installation to ensure clean setup.
    3. Follow the prompts and restart once installation completes.

3. Check and Adjust Graphics Settings

  • Open the AMD Adrenalin software after installation.
  • Navigate to Graphics Settings and enable or optimize features like Radeon Boost, Radeon Chill, or other HD capabilities as needed.
  • Test graphics performance in an application to confirm improvements.

4. Test Using HP-Provided Drivers

  • If the AMD driver doesn't resolve the issue, try using the graphics driver provided on the HP Drivers and Software page. These drivers are tested specifically for your laptop model.

5. Adjust Windows Power and Graphics Settings

  • Go to Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings.
  • Assign high-performance GPU to applications that require better graphics capabilities.
  • In Power & Sleep Settings, set the system to High Performance mode.

6. Run Hardware Diagnostics

 1) Shut down the computer.

2) Turn the computer back on again and repeatedly tap on the ESC until a Startup menu appears.

3) Press F2 once.

4) Go to the system test > extensive test

7. Perform system restore

  • Kindly refer to the steps on this link to perform system restore on your laptop and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a great day ahead!
