Hi everyone! So I recently purchased an hp envy 13 with nvidia mx350 gpu. I have the i7 core with intel 10. I do some gaming on it as well as Netflix but it’s mostly for school. I was watching Netflix last night and the audio was perfect. When I went on it today I did some schoolwork and put it away. Well I went on it later and the audio was all jacked up, it seems to only be using the bottom speakers and not the side speakers. My volume was at 100 and I ran trouble shooting as well as installing the latest audio drivers, which actually didn’t install because I already had the latest audio drivers because I’ve only had this laptop for about 2 weeks. I restarted the computer at first and the problem was still there. When I was watching Netflix last night I wasn’t watching it on full volume. I now shut off the pc and it’s charging. I’m not sure why the audio isn’t working as troubleshooting didnt detect any problems. Help?

Hi @warbkhelo

Welcome to the HP Support Community. Thanks for bringing this to our notice.

I see that you are facing audio/video-related issues on your system. Do not worry, we are here to fix it.

  • May I know from when are you facing this issue?
  • Did you make any hardware or software-related changes to it?

Kindly roll back, update or reinstall your audio output driver by following the steps below:

To roll back the said driver (restore the previously installed driver):
1. Open Start Menu.
2. Type Device Manager and Open it.
3. Double-Click on the category "Audio inputs and outputs".
4. Under this category, right-click on the driver of your audio output device and select "Properties".
5. Click the "Driver" tab and look for "Roll Back Driver" button* below and click it.
6. Next select a reason why you're rolling back and click Yes.
7. Restart your computer.

*If the option to roll back the driver is grayed out, the reasons are the following:
- Your computer hasn't had a previous driver installed for the said device.
- Your computer did not retain the driver files from the original version installed.

If that doesn't work, kindly try updating the said driver:
1. Locate again the said driver
2. Right-click on it and select "Update Driver".
3. Next select "Search Automatically..."
4. Restart your computer.
5. If the issue persists, repeat step 1 to 2, and now select "Browse my computer for drivers"
6. Click on "Let me pick from a list of available drivers on my computer".
7. Make sure the option "Show compatible hardware" is checked.
8. Select Generic device and click Next.

If that doesn't still work, please try uninstalling the said driver:
1. Locate again the said driver
2. Right-click on it and select "Uninstall device".
3. Restart your computer. It will automatically search and install the driver.

If the issue still persists, kindly go to Settings>Update & Security>Windows Update. If there is a "View optional updates", click it. Next, click on Driver updates and see if your audio driver is listed there. If so, check that driver and click on "Download and install". But if that is not possible or won't work, then try searching for the latest driver.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
