Hi @Time8,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the arrow keys on your HP laptop's touchpad are not working, there are a few troubleshooting steps you can try.

  • Restart your laptop: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary software or hardware issues.
  • Check for physical obstructions: Ensure there are no dirt, dust, or debris stuck around the arrow keys on the touchpad. Use compressed air or a soft brush to clean the area gently.
  • Update touchpad drivers: Outdated or incompatible drivers can cause problems with the touchpad functionality. Visit the official HP support website, enter your laptop model details, and download the latest touchpad drivers for your specific model. Install the drivers and restart your laptop.
  • Adjust touchpad settings: Go to the Control Panel or Settings menu on your HP laptop and look for the touchpad settings. Ensure that the touchpad is enabled and that the arrow keys are not disabled or set to a different function.
  • Run hardware diagnostics: HP laptops often come with built-in hardware diagnostic tools. Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F2 or Esc) to access the diagnostics menu. Run a thorough test of your touchpad to check for any hardware issues.
  • Check for software conflicts: Sometimes, third-party software or conflicting applications can interfere with the touchpad functionality. Try booting your laptop into Safe Mode, which loads only essential drivers and services, to see if the arrow keys work there. If they do, it suggests a software conflict, and you may need to uninstall recently installed programs or perform a system restore to a point before the issue occurred.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
