I am unable to turn on my sound icon. It is grey and will not open or close. Any one know how to get it back?

Hi Tinkie,
First of all make sure this system icon is enabled. This is done by:
- Right Click on or near time clock in notification area and select Properties.
- Make sure Volume icon is set to 'On’ .
- Also try Restore Default Icon Behaviours.
If this doesn't work, try restarting explorer.exe
This is done by hitting Ctrl + Shift + Esc for Task Manager. Then find explorer.exe and end this task by right clicking it. Make sure to kill all the explorer.exe tasks. Now from the File tab, hit new process or Run and type in explorer.exe. You could then head over to View > Refresh although this isn't required.
Other than this, you may need to do a registry edit.
Hope this solves your issue,
