Hi @Sugarat8,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you're having trouble unmuting your HP laptop using the keyboard mute button, here are a few steps to troubleshoot the issue.
Check Keyboard Functionality:
- Ensure the mute button is not physically stuck or damaged.
- Try pressing other function keys (e.g., volume up/down) to see if they work properly.
Restart the Laptop:
- Sometimes a simple restart can resolve minor software glitches affecting the keyboard functions.
Check Audio Settings:
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings" or "Sound settings".
- Ensure the correct output device is selected and not muted in the settings.
Update Audio Drivers:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start menu and selecting Device Manager.
- Expand the Sound, video, and game controllers section.
- Right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, etc.) and select Update driver.
Keyboard Driver Update:
- In Device Manager, expand the Keyboards section and right-click your keyboard device to select Update driver.
Check Keyboard Shortcuts:
- On some laptops, the function keys (like mute) require holding down the Fn key while pressing the mute key. Try using Fn + Mute to see if that helps.
HP Hotkey Support Software:
- If the laptop relies on HP-specific software for controlling function keys, check for updates or reinstall the HP Hotkey Support software from the HP website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I might have had the same issue. I had to turn on microphone access for the camera app:
Enable Microphone Access
- Open Settings: Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Allow Access: Ensure that Allow apps to access your microphone is turned on. Also, check that the specific apps you want to use the microphone with have permission.
