HP ENVY x360 - m6-aq105dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have started to hear really bad crackling sound from my laptop. I tried uninstalling the drivers and reinstalling them again but of no use.

Currently I have  Conexant ISST Audio drivers in my machine.

Kindly help on how to resolve this.

Hi @arafatenvy,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting crackling sounds from your laptop's audio can be quite frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue:

  • Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers for your audio device. You mentioned you already tried reinstalling them, but sometimes manually updating them can help. You can go to the HP website, search for your laptop model, and download the latest audio drivers available for your specific model.Software and Drivers for HP ENVY x360 - m6-aq105dx
  • Windows Troubleshooter: Windows has built-in troubleshooters that can sometimes identify and fix common problems. You can try running the "Audio Troubleshooter" by going to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters > Playing Audio.
  • Disable Audio Enhancements: Sometimes, audio enhancements can cause crackling sounds. You can try disabling them by right-clicking on the speaker icon in the taskbar, selecting "Playback devices," right-clicking on your audio device, selecting "Properties," and then going to the "Enhancements" tab. Check the box that says "Disable all enhancements" and see if that helps.
  • Check for Interference: Electrical interference from other devices or cables can sometimes cause crackling sounds. Try moving your laptop to a different location or disconnecting any unnecessary peripherals to see if the crackling stops.
  • Check Hardware Connections: Make sure all cables and connections related to your audio device are secure. Loose connections can sometimes cause audio issues.
  • Test with External Speakers/Headphones: If possible, try connecting external speakers or headphones to your laptop to see if the crackling persists. If it doesn't, the issue may be with your laptop's internal speakers.
  • Hardware Issue: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it's possible that there's a hardware problem with your laptop's audio components. In this case, please run the hardware test : HP PCs - Testing for hardware failures
