Hi @jmccown,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To get a sound equalizer working on your HP laptop, you can follow these general steps.
- Check the audio driver: Ensure that your laptop has the appropriate audio driver installed and updated. Visit the HP support website (https://support.hp.com/) and enter your laptop's model number to find and download the latest audio driver for your specific laptop model.
- Install the equalizer software: Once you've downloaded the Equalizer APO installer, run the installer and follow the on-screen instructions to install it on your HP laptop. Make sure to choose the correct audio output device during the installation process.
- Configure the equalizer settings: After installing Equalizer APO, you need to configure the equalizer settings to adjust the audio output to your liking. To do this, you can use a separate configuration editor called Peace GUI, which works in conjunction with Equalizer APO. Download the Peace GUI installer from the same website (https://equalizerapo.com/), run the installer, and follow the instructions to install it.
- Set up the equalizer: Once both Equalizer APO and Peace GUI are installed, launch the Peace GUI application. It will provide a graphical user interface for adjusting the equalizer settings. Explore the various options available to customize the sound output according to your preferences. You can adjust frequency bands, change preamp levels, and apply various audio effects.
- Save and apply the settings: Once you've made the desired changes to the equalizer settings, click on the "Save" button in Peace GUI to apply the changes. The equalizer settings will take effect immediately, and you should notice the audio output being adjusted based on your configured settings.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
