Hello All,

I have owned a HP Pavilion DV6-6C57NR with Beats Audio for over a year. A Couple of weeks ago my computer crashed in a big way so I reinstalled Windows 7. I figured out all of my drivers and my Sound Works fine (Except that [Fn] + B Doesn't Turn on and off Beats). The only problem is that I no longer have access to the Enhancements Tab in Windows Sound

I use the Volume Equalizer in loud rooms all the time. Any help to get it back would be appreciated.

Sincerely,

H

Hi,

Whether or not you have the 'Enhancements' tab is down to the particular audio driver that's installed - some allow this feature and some do not.

Try the following.

Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.

When complete, restart the notebook.

Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, check if you have the Enhancements tab back.

Note:  If you want the fn+B combination to work correctly, you'll need to download and install HP Quick Launch from the link below.

HP Quick Launch Buttons.

When the installation has completed, restart the notebook before checking.

Regards,

Thanks,

I was a little sceptical because the file was exactly the same driver that I installed previously. The only thing that I think is different was running as a administrator. Worked like a charm and my volume seems louder without the equalizer.

Hi DavidPK,
The IDT U provided is saying an error(while installing the main part)the detected hardware is not compatible with d IDT.!Any suggestion plzzzzz.............................................................. !!!

That probably means that you don't have the correct driver. Go to http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers, let hp scan your computer and see if there is an audio driver there
