I have this extremely frustrating issue with my laptop's audio driver. With the IDT High Definition Audio Codec, my speakers work perfectly. But after a day or two of having the driver installed, something changes and the fan on my computer starts running much more than normal. At that time, the sound also stops working. If I reinstall that audio driver, the same thing happens - it works fine for a day or two, and then no sound.
My other option is to install the High Definition Audio Device driver. With that driver, I have consistent audio, but it's very low (I think that there's no bass). So I don't like using this driver because I want to be able to hear things when I use my speakers.
I've read site after site about this but have had no luck solving my issue. Any suggestions? Should I try installing an older version of the IDT High Definition Audio Codec?

Are you sure it is IDT ? If yes, please do a clean install Audio software/driver, this should help.
(a) Download the following driver and save on your computer,
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp71501-72000/sp71886.exe
(b) Go to Device Manager, Sound to uninstall sound driver and reboot,
(c) Right click downloaded file and select Run as administrator,
(d) Reboot again.
Regards.

Thanks for responding Banhein. I tried to do that, but when I was installing the file, it said:
"The hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package. The install will be aborted."
When I look up drivers for my computer through the HP site it recommends sp63555. Should I install that instead?
