Many internal mic stopped performing. They were working perfectly, but after we installed windows 11 they fail. Driver updates don't work. The microphone shows up in the settings screen and when I press Test and scream in the microphone Windows shows: Result: 6% of total volume, This should be off the charts when I scream directly into the microphone!

Obviously the driver does not play nice with Windows 11, and looking at this forum people have been having this problem for a long time now! It's time to fix that driver!

Since HP does not post any solution on this same question posted in 2022 in this forum I decided to call their helpdesk.

It took about an hour with the lady on the phone but it looks like it has improved now. Will test it at the next online meeting.

This is what she asked me to do:

* Remove all cables from my laptop.

* Press and hold the power button for at least 30 seconds.

* Press the power button again and test if it works (still 6%)

* Download HP Support assistant and check for any updates (there were none, since I already tried that myself)

* Go to https://support.hp.com select Software and Drivers -> Laptop -> let HP detect your product

* Select your product and OS (Windows 11 & version 22H2)

* Download latest HP BIOS and System Firmware

* Download latest Driver-Audio

* Install both

 The system settings test still only shows a result of 18% (it's better than the initial 6%) but my colleague told me he could hear me well now. Lets hope it's better in the next meeting.
