as the headline says, I have a problem with my headphones and internal microphone. My laptop has only one jack - combo headset one - and when I plug in ONLY headphones the internal microphone stops working and its replaced with external in the system which is obviously not working.
I checked the forum and someone has already asked this question however I do not find the reply helpful at all.
In Sound -> Recording tab, there is no Internal Microphone Array or not even Internal something, just "external microphone" shown. Even after making all disabled and disconnected devices visible.
I would really appreciate your help because this issue is causing me lots of trouble when skyping.

I understand that the internal microphone on the notebook gets disabled when you plug in your headphones to the computer.
Don't worry, I will be glad to help.
Do your headphones have a built-in mic?
Have you run a microphone test on the computer?
The combo jack is designed like the way you have described your concern.
Whenever a headphone with an inbuilt mic is connected to the computer to a combo jack, the internal microphone on the computer will be automatically disabled.
If the headphones do have an inbuilt mic, then the internal microphone will be enabled.
The computer I am using has a combo jack and I have tested it with microphones with inbuilt mic and without the inbuilt mic.
The computer automatically detects the kind to headphones inserted and disables or enables the mic.
If the microphone is not listed, recommend you to run HP Support Assistant to make sure all the drivers are updated. Click here for assistance.
Also, if the microphones are not listed. Please do a right-click on the recording devices settings and select show hidden/disabled devices.
