I have found in this section 2 or 3 posts with a problem description identical to mine, only in my case the solutions that worked there, do not work.
And the problem is that the internal mic simply won't work in any of the applications - in audio calls the other side doesn't hear me, and a blank audio is recorded in the Windows Sound Recorder or various video (audio) editing software. For the last two days I've followed all of the troubleshooters I could find, seen all of the YouTube videos explaining how to fix this problem, but no use. And the funny thing is that, two months ago, I managed to fix it somehow by doing some of the things I've done in the past two days, so it's definitely not a hardware issue, it's beyond doubt related to software. In the meantime there was one or two Windows Updates, that could have also caused the problem to return.
The driver seems to work perfectly (tried deleting the device and reinstalling the driver), the mic test from the settings is also showing the mic as working, I've checked the permissions in the security section and all the apps have permissions, I've even tried restarting all of the audio services, and also tried disabling the antivirus software. Simply no sound from the mic in WhatsApp, Viber, Messanger, Cyberlink Power Director, Windows Sound Recorder, nothing. Uncountable times have I doublechecked everything, changing the sequence of my experiments. The only thing that I haven't done yet was try to uninstall the last windows update. I also thought about a possible firmware (BIOS) update, but the HP Support Assistant informed me that BIOS update is not available on my machine anymore. I guess it has something to do with Windows 11, or a seemingly failed attempt of BIOS update several months ago (the short period when the mic actually did work was AFTER that attempt to update the BIOS, so obviously it has nothing to do with that too).
Any further hint welcome, although I suppose the first 10 of you are going to suggest something that I have already done. It's really a pity not to be able to use the Microphone Array of the Spectre X360, because the sound it gives is really great.

I still have not found the solution to this problem, but may have stumbled upon a possible cause. In the Device Manager, for the device Microphone Array (Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST)), when I look into the Events tab, with a date on March 3rd 2023 there is a notification that the settings were not migrated (as far as I can see in the Windows Update, the update KB5022913 was applied on that day), with a more detailed description saying:
Device settings for SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.1.00000000}.{f23833e7-f19b-4de1-879d-5166e2bffb1c} were not migrated from previous OS installation due to partial or ambiguous device match.
Last Device Instance Id: SWD\MMDEVAPI\{0.0.0.00000000}.{ed87dc94-f205-400b-81d8-0e20fc617422}
Class Guid: {c166523c-fe0c-4a94-a586-f1a80cfbbf3e}

Now as there was another update performed on March 15th (KB5023706), I don't think reverting to before this critical update is possible anymore, and even if it was, other improvements that the update brought outweigh this unfortunate bug. So it would be very good to notify Microsoft of this problem, so they could repair it in some future update.
