I am quite sure that I had working internal microphone when buying the computer a few weeks ago. After window update there is no internal microphone in the device manager. Checked that all devices are visible, loaded again the latest Realtek driver from HP, made all Win11 updates, run audio troubleshoot, but the microphone doesn't show up.
Not sure if it is related or just co-incidence. The master volume of the internal loadspeakers doesn't work. The slider looks nice, but it is either mute or full volume. Adjusting the volume only works with the sliders of individual applications.
This is only with internal speakers. Using a bluetooth headset or attaching an external soundcard works to expectation.
Does anyone have an idea on how to detect the internal microfone or address the master volume?

- Did you change anything in the BIOS, recently? I would update to the latest BIOS, from the HP Hardware and Software page.
- Did you try to Disable and Enable the device in the Device Manager (C:\Windows\System32\hdwwiz.cpl) ?
- Did you try to Test the Speaker device in Audio settings (C:\Windows\System32\mmsys.cpl)?

Dear Pavilion, thanks for the recommendations.
I didn't introduce my device, a Pavilion 15-eh 3000 with AMD Ryzen 7 7730. OS is win11 23H2.
1) BIOS and driver updates: I used all HP tools for updates and all show "no updates available"
2) In fact I keep two sound issues: No internal microphone present as device and master sound slider for internal speakers are either full volume or mute. This means I have sound, but can't use the function keys on the keyboard to adjust volume.
I don't know if both issues are related and consider the missing internal microphone array as more critical, because it even doesn't show up in the device manager.
Searching around I found a post saying AMD drivers might cause the issue. I followed the recommendation to let the AMD hardware check run, see AMD Drivers and Support | AMD. After download it starts with the hardware detection and dissapears before it is ready. I see a AMD software installed on my computer, but it doesn't run and can't be de-installed. It seems as there is a AMD driver issue that I don't know how to address unless complete reset of the computer. Recommendations would be appreciated.
For the volume issue I found a post about the Realtec drivers. A user was able to replace the latest one by a Windows driver. After that he was able to use Master volume again. However the indicatinon LED on the keyboard for mute didn't work anymore with the driver.
In a summary I found indications that may lead to solutions, but not a fix.
Any further help would be appreciated.
