Internal microphone stopped working

I have the same issue on my HP Envy 16.  I believe it is a hardware issue.

My very expensive computer is fairly new, I wonder how a simple H/W piece first works intermittently, then not at all. And what can HP offer?

To be honest, I bought mine new for less than $1000 from Best Buy. It was inexpensive for a 13900h and 4060, but I can see why. The engineering and build quality is very poor. Out of the box, they throttled the CPU to less than half the speed because of bad thermal design, and disabled USB-C charging, which is absurd as it no longer works with thunderbolt docking stations. A search here shows the microphone not working isn't that uncommon, sadly. It has potential to be a great laptop with some better design and build quality.
