I have a laptop that i've now realized is only optimized for Windows 10.  However i updated the laptop a while back to Windows 11 and everything was fine for a long time. However for like a month or two ago the audio from the Bang and Olufsen speakers started to "crackle" or distort the audio from the computer. Weirdly this issue would resolve itself for a few minutes if i changed some audio setting (like switching on and off the mono sound) or by muting the audio from within the Youtube browser.

 

I have tried everyhing i feel like, removing drivers, installing drivers, installing external software, reinstalling the computer twice etc. But i think the issue lies in the drivers provided by HP is not compatible with Windows 11.

 

I appreciate any feedback and will respond to any questions and provide additional information if needed. For a while i've been considering buying a new computer since the audio crackling really stresses me out and makes it hard to relax watching a movie or listening to music... But that would feel very wastefull since the computer works fine otherwise and the audio is really good mostly, it goes from 0 to 100 with the crackling which really bothers me.

Right-click on the loudspeaker symbol in the systray at the bottom right > surround sound > click on deactivate (even if a check mark has already been set) should also temporarily eliminate the noise.

 

Otherwise: Download the driver > unpack it into a folder with an unpacker like 7-Zip > in the Device Manager > Update driver > Browse my computer for drivers > Browse button and select the folder with extracted files from the CAB file > OK > Next > Close

or

If the message appears: "The best drivers for your device are already installed." In the folder with the unpacked driver files > right-click amdacpbus.inf > install
Sometimes a restart is necessary afterwards.

This looks like a driver conflict between Realtek Audio and the AMD Audio CoProcessor.

Which driver version (Driver) and hardware ID (Details) does the AMD Audio CoProcessor have? Can be found in the Device Manager > System devices > AMD Audio CoProcessor > (see above).

If hardware ID:

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_15E21022&REV_00

or

PCI\VEN_1022&DEV_15E2&SUBSYS_15E21022&REV_01

then the driver version should be 2.xx.x.xx, version 6.x.x.xx causes these problems.

The correct driver can be found in the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Anyway my version of AMD Audop CoProcessor is stated to be: 6.0.0.78

 

Manually installing system files is a bit over my knowledge and i have a hard time understanding what im doing even after reading tutorials online. Does the link you sent take me to the correct update? Does the Windows 10 updates work for my Windows 11 system?

 

I tried downloading one of the updates but could not manage to do anything manually with the cab files, and manually updating the driver by using files on my computer through the AMD CoProcessor in device manager didnt work either.

When unchecking surround sound or any oher audio setting the crackling disapears temporarily but usually comes back after a few minutes. Since i've had the issue for quite a long time and never really found a longterm solution i started to notice that the crackling became more frequent when battery was low and also when the computer was hoter.

 

However i disabled the AMD Coprocessor in device manager and it actually removed the crackling longterm, the audio seems a bit worse than before but still compared to the crackling i'm happy as is.

 

Honestly, i thought the issue would be hardware related but the fact that it was just some random driver that caused all of that makes it a bit annoying.
