There have been a number of windows 11 driver updates for your laptop.

Make sure you have the August 2026 bios

Does the microphone fail the UEFi diagnostics?

Press F2 when booting and run the microphone test. If it fails there is a hardware problem.

Unaccountably, the serial number you provide failed the India warranty lookup tool

Please remove your name and and contact information from your post.  I cannot do that for you.

The latest audio driver is August 2026

New versions of Diagnostics for your laptop have been released, both UEFi and Windows

Select windows 11,  24h2 or later here

Possibly the problem is a setting in Microsoft Teams as listed here

You may have done this already, but please review the below AI information

Fixing Microphone Issues on HP EliteBook 640 14 inch G9 Notebook PC

Follow these steps in order:

  1. Check physical connections and mute keys

    • Make sure no external headset is plugged in (unless you are trying to use its mic).
    • On the keyboard, press F8 to toggle microphone mute (you may need to hold Fn + F8 depending on your settings).
    • Check for any mic mute light indicator near the keyboard or camera area.
  2. Verify audio input device in Windows

    • Right‑click the speaker icon in the taskbar.
    • Select Sound settings (or Open Sound settings).
    • Under Input, make sure Microphone – HP Integrated Microphone (dual‑array) (or similar) is selected as the default input device.
    • Speak into the mic and check if the input level bar moves.
  3. Check app permissions

    • Open Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
    • Ensure Microphone access is On.
    • Ensure Let apps access your microphone is On, and that the specific app (Teams, Zoom, browser, etc.) has permission.
  4. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics

    • Use HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows (preinstalled on many HP business PCs) to test the audio input:
      • Open Start menu and search for HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows.
      • Run an Audio test and follow the prompts to check if the internal microphone hardware is functioning.
  5. Check HP software and security features

    • Open HP Support Assistant and check for driver and BIOS updates; install any recommended audio-related updates.
    • If you use HP Sure Sense, HP Sure Click, HP Privacy Settings, or other security/privacy tools, verify that none of them are blocking microphone access.
  6. Test with another app

    • Try recording with the built‑in Voice Recorder / Sound Recorder app.
    • If it works there but not in conferencing apps, reconfigure the audio settings inside those apps to use the notebook’s internal microphone.

If the microphone still does not work after these steps, the issue might be hardware‑related; please contact HP support for servicing (the internal mic is part of the notebook and not user‑replaceable).
