@Pokersmid, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds frustrating to deal with audio issues after an update. Let's try to find the correct Realtek High Definition Audio driver for your HP ENVY x360.
Here are the steps you can follow to install the Realtek driver:
Download the driver: You can download the Realtek High Definition Audio driver from the HP support site. The driver version 6.0.9091.2 might be suitable for your laptop. You can download it here.
Uninstall the current driver:
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
- Right-click on your audio device and select Uninstall device.
- Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device and click Uninstall.
Install the downloaded driver:
- Restart your laptop.
- Run the downloaded driver file and follow the on-screen instructions to install it.
- Restart your laptop again after installation.
Check the audio quality: After installing the driver, test the audio quality to see if it has improved.
If you encounter any issues during the installation, you can also try a clean install by following these steps:
- Download the driver from the link provided above.
- Use Device Manager to uninstall the current audio driver.
- Reboot your laptop.
- Install the downloaded driver file.
- Reboot your laptop again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I did all of your steps many times both of the 2 version, clean install and everithing.
After i uninstall the current audio driver with Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device and click Uninstall
i restarted the laptop, and started the driver install from the downloaded.exe
it is unzipped to the c: swsetup folder, and after that automaticaly runing a cmd.
I had to wait a lot and the cmf is closed,
but i think it not setup anything.
I restarted the laptop
and after that in the device managger it High Definition Audio sound device not realtek
The sound is not wery good i think because of the driver is not realtek.
I thint the driver install is not worink well.
Tanks four your support agen!

@Pokersmid, Thanks for trying all those steps.
I understand it’s frustrating when the driver doesn’t install correctly despite multiple attempts. Since the Realtek installer appears to unzip but not actually apply the driver, let’s try a manual installation method using Device Manager:
Uninstall existing drivers completely
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click High Definition Audio Device → click Uninstall device.
- Check "Delete the driver software for this device".
- Repeat until it says Unknown Device or nothing is listed under that section.
- Restart the laptop.
Download and Extract Realtek Driver
- Use this direct HP link for the Realtek Audio Driver v6.0.9091.2:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp105001-105500/sp105082.exe - Run the EXE once — it will unzip the files to:
C:\SWSetup\SP105082\
(Don't let the installer run yet. Cancel or let it fail if needed — we’ll install manually.)
Manually install from Device Manager
In Device Manager, right-click on High Definition Audio Device (or Unknown Device if it appears).
- Choose Update Driver.
- Select Browse my computer for drivers.
- Choose: C:\SWSetup\SP105082 as the location.
- Click Next. Let it install manually.
- If prompted about unsigned drivers, choose Install Anyway.
Restart your laptop and test the audio.
If the above still doesn't work:
Try disabling Driver Signature Enforcement temporarily:
- Hold Shift and click Restart on the Start Menu.
- Go to: Troubleshoot → Advanced Options → Startup Settings → Restart
- After reboot, press 7 for "Disable driver signature enforcement".
- Then retry the manual install as described above.
I hope this helps!
If my response resolves your issue, please click “Accepted Solution” to help others find the answer. Also, don’t forget to click the “Yes” button to say thanks!
Take care and have a great day.

Download this, then extract:
If not compatible use this version:
Open Device Manager, right-click High Definition Audio in the Sound, video, and game controllers category. Select update driver, and navigate to the extracted folder of the .cab file.
