A few days ago after booting my laptop, my laptop stopped recognizing or detecting its own speakers and plugging a headphone through the headphone jack also goes undetected. Only way to play audio currently is through Bluetooth. In device manager I have an error related to intel SST OED, I have tried uninstalling the driver and letting windows reinstall it after restart, used SDI to install it, tried installing it through fortect and it still displays:
This device cannot start. (Code 10)
FW did not sent FW Ready notification.

Hi @Hossam-Allam,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for sharing the details. Based on your issue with the Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) OED showing Code 10: "FW did not send FW Ready notification", this can occur due to driver incompatibility or corruption, especially after Windows updates.
Here’s a step-by-step guide to resolve this issue:
1. Remove All Audio Drivers (Fully Clean) We need to clean uninstall Intel SST and Realtek audio drivers to prevent conflict.
A. Open Device Manager (devmgmt.msc)
- Expand System Devices
- Right-click Intel Smart Sound Technology for OED
- Click Uninstall device → Check Delete the driver software → Click Uninstall
- Expand Sound, Video, and Game Controllers
- Uninstall Realtek Audio, Intel Display Audio, or anything related
- Check the Delete driver when available
🔁 Restart your PC after uninstalling all audio drivers.
2. Install Compatible Driver Manually (HP-Certified)
For your OMEN 15-dh0000ne, HP provides drivers that are known to work correctly with your hardware and prevent this exact error.
👉 Download the following from HP’s official driver page: OMEN by HP 15-dh0000ne Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
A. Install These in Order:
- Intel High-Definition DSP Driver
- Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) Audio Controller Driver
- Realtek HD Audio Driver and Install BIOS
- Restart the system after each installation step
3. Disable Fast Startup (Optional but Recommended)
Sometimes, fast startup interferes with SST loading properly.
- Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Choose what the power buttons do
- Click Change settings that are currently unavailable
- Uncheck Turn on fast startup
- Save changes and restart
4. After These Steps:
- Open Device Manager
- Confirm Intel SST and Realtek audio show “This device is working properly”
- Right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar → Sound settings
- Ensure Output = Speakers (Realtek Audio)
- Plug in headphones → it should now auto-detect or show as a new output device
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hi, I tried the first portion related to uninstalling drivers from device manager and restarting but that didn't help.
For the second part related to installing these drivers from HP's site: OMEN by HP 15-dh0000ne Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
These specific drivers are not found on the site:
- Intel High-Definition DSP Driver
- Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) Audio Controller Driver
- Realtek HD Audio Driver
I could maybe look up these drivers listed under other laptop models but I don't know if that's advisable.
Thanks for your help!
