Still having the same popping issue with this new driver. I notice once I install the Realtek driver and restart the computer it tells me to restart again to finish updating and on restarting a second time I have a Conexant driver installed. Should the updated driver be Conexant or Realtek? Thanks.

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
I recommend you reinstall the softpaq again, check which driver is working on your PC,
And once confirmed, right click on the driver creating the issue (in your case the Conexant driver) and disable it using the device manager.
When done, restart the computer and it should work without the popup and with proper sound,
Keep me posted,
If the information I've provided was helpful,

Good Luck.

After i uninstall Conexant ,download the softpaq and restart the laptop to finish installing the new driver it immediately reverts to Conexant. I checked device manager on restart and the new driver is listed as high definition audio bus but this dissapears and is replaced by Conexant so I'm unable to disable the driver causing the issue. Is there a way to stop the computer defaulting back to the Conexant driver? Thanks

I’ve owned an HP Spectre x360 Convertible since Feb ’17 and just two days ago began experiencing this exact same issue, unprovoked. No major updates were complete around that time, except
“2017-09 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4038782)”
The only close to “promising fix” I came upon (did not pursue) was here:
http://www.tomsguide.com/answers/id-2593100/crackling-popping-sound-laptop-speakers-headphones.html
I spent 5 hours trying to reach HP by phone, chat, and Twitter (my machine is under warranty). When I finally got through, as I suspected, the scripted answer was to update the audio driver (Contextant in my case, not Realtek) -- An entirely unproductive exercise since (a) it didn’t solve the issue and (b) it reinstalled the version I already had according to the driver events log – Contextant SmartAudio HD 8.65.129.61. I have to assume I must have received a notification to download that version because I do not recall actively checking for an update on May 18, 2017 – just one day after it was released.
Listed on HP Support as: Conexant High-Definition (HD) Audio Driver / 8.65.129.61 Rev.B / 105.2 MB / Release date: May 17, 2017
His only recommendation was to send my laptop on a 3-week voyage for further experimentation. Naturally I’m not about to go buy another laptop and wait around.
Unsure how to proceed – any successes?
