Hi @abcd72,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the left speaker on your HP Victus 15-fa0xxx laptop isn't working, you can try the following steps to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue:

Please try the following Troubleshoots steps.

Step 1

1.    Turn off the Unit.

2.    Disconnect the AC adapter.

3.    Remove any discs from the disc drive.

4.    Remove memory cards from the card reader slot.

5.    Disconnect all nonessential peripheral devices, such as printers, scanners, external hard drives, and USB flash drives.

6.    Disconnect the AC adapter press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds.

7.    Reconnect the AC adapter, and then turn on the computer.

Step 2

Turn off the unit and please press and hold the Windows key + letter B key and the power button together for 30 seconds after 30 seconds, 1st release the power button but keep holding the Windows key and B key for ten more seconds and then release these two keys If done correctly, you will see the display flashing once. Please attempt it thrice as this step and Restart the unit

Step3

The unit has to be turned off, Press Win+ V while holding these two keys then Press the Power button, continue to hold all three keys for 30 seconds and then release the Power button first and then release these two keys Please attempt it thrice  and then you may get a Pop-Up CMOS Check and it will restart the unit

Even if you don't get a Pop-up restart the unit manually after 3 attempts.

Restart the unit

1. Check Sound Settings

  • Right-click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
  • Under Output, make sure your laptop speakers are selected as the default device.
  • Go to Device properties and ensure the Balance for both left and right speakers is set to the middle.

2. Run the Audio Troubleshooter

  • Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
  • Scroll down to find Playing Audio and run the troubleshooter to identify and fix any audio issues automatically.

3. Update Audio Drivers

  • Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
  • Right-click on your audio device (likely Realtek or similar) and select Update driver.
  • Choose Search automatically for drivers and allow Windows to find any available updates.

4. Test with External Speakers/Headphones

  • Plug in headphones or external speakers to see if audio is coming from both channels. If both channels work on external devices, the internal speaker may be the issue.

5. Check HP Audio Controls (if available)

  • Some HP laptops come with pre-installed audio software (such as Bang & Olufsen or Realtek Audio Console).
  • Open the software and check the Balance and other settings to ensure they aren’t affecting the left speaker.

6. Reset BIOS Settings

  • Turn off your laptop and power it back on. Press F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
  • In the BIOS, reset to Default Settings, then save and exit.

7. Check for Hardware Issues

  • If none of the above solutions work, the left speaker may have a hardware issue. In that case, contacting HP support for a repair or replacement might be necessary.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
