Envy x360
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I’m having an issue with sound on my HP Envy x360.  The latest Realtek driver sounds terrible (v6.0.8703.1).  There are numerous older versions (downloaded from HP) that sound much better but they only work with the headphone jack (no sound from speakers).  So, I “rolled back” to an older version (v.10.0.18362.356) which sounds OKAY – both phones and speakers (except no Windows equalizer).

In case of a Windows 10 update attack where the audio driver is updated without my consent, I want to be able to reinstall the version that works.  Does anyone know where I can find a Realtek v10.0.18362.356 driver?

I believe I did supply you with the correct number (v.10.0.18362.365).  The model number is "HP Envy x360 -- 15-cp0053cl".  All I want is a copy of that Realtek driver that became available upon a device driver "roll back" (I don't know where it originally came from).

@EssKayKay

Thank you for the update.

The Realtek driver v.10.0.18362.365 is not available on the HP website.

I would suggest you update with 6.0.1.8673 Rev.H  and check for the issue.

Please click the following link to download the drivers

I installed all drivers that are listed on the HP website for this laptop.  None of them resolved the issue of poor sound.  There were a couple that sounded better but the problem with them is they only directed sound to the line out (headphones or external speakers).  When I unplugged the headphone or external speakers there was no sound coming from the laptop.  The driver only worked as a line out.  The best sounding driver was v.6.0.1.8067 (sp79374) - but no sound from laptop speakers.  The only driver I found that sounded OKAY (not great but OK) and provided sound from both laptop speakers and line out was v.10.0.18362.356 -- and that was achieved from doing a driver "roll back".  I have no idea where it originally came from.  That's why I want a copy of it.  I assume it was part of the HP Envy x360 original configuration.

@EssKayKay

I understand your concerns.

If you install the old drivers, after a windows update, it will update to a newer version.

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/p...

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

  3.

Updates list in HP Support Center
  4. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  5. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  6. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also, ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update, and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Or you can check with the Realtek website.

I have run the HPSA.  It updated to the latest and greatest Realtek driver which is not what I want.  It sounds terrible.  I don't think you understand.  I want the Realtek v.10.0.18362.356 driver -- nothing else.  The others don't work.

Let's just put this posting/question to rest.  It looks like there is no solution to this.  At least not from HP.

Good Bye for now. . . . .

I understand your concerns.

The oldest driver version is 6.0.1.8412 Rev.B

The new drivers' version is 6.0.8703.1 Rev.H

If you are looking at the v.10.0.18362.356 driver is not available on the HP website.

I also understand that v10.0.18362.356 is no available from HP's website.  My question is how did this version then become available as a "roll back"?  Oh well. . . .

In that case, I would suggest you contact our phone support. They will take remote control of your computer and fix the issue.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

Have a nice day!!
