Envy HPDV7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This is my second try on this problem.  I seem to have lost communication with the original helper.

Upon first introduction of Windows 10 I lost Beats audio, my notebook (old laptop) having Beats speakers built in.  Sound is weak, mono, tinny.  Inquiring on this forum software was provided which recovered Beats.  Many months latter, a major Windows 10 update did the same thing; again, this forum provided software which recovered Beats.  Last week Microsoft again provided a major Widonws 10 update which again created the same problem.  Someone on this forum provided a software link for correction, but the link is dead, "not on this server."  I've reported the dead link three times but recieved no reply.  So is there a software link which will once again recover my Beats audio?  The only id I have for my old Envy (I guess nearing a decade old) is

Model   dv7-7243cl

Product   C2H74YA#ABA

which the previous correspondant showed me how to gather.

The offered dead software link is

Hi:

The only suggestion I can offer since your notebook has the IDT Beats Audio system, would be to reinstall the W10 Audio driver...Restart the PC after installing.

This package contains the driver that enables the IDT High-Definition (HD) Audio in supported notebook models that are running a supported operating system.

http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp63501-64000/sp63555.exe

Whoever gave you the link to sp81305 must have been just guessing, as that is a driver for the Realtek HD audio, not the IDT audio.

That worked!

In fairness to the first person, they didn't know my product information, as it remains only in the notebook's bay for the battery.  When they gave me that (dead) link I also received a breif video telling me where to look for the info.  So they were flying blind.

I now recall that what you provided is what I did the first two times this happened as well.    The software is there, but major Windows 10 patches dislodge it.

Thanks for your quick help.  I'm in stero heaven again!

You're very welcome.

Keep that driver handy in case it happens again.

I had to reinstall the audio drivers on all of my HP desktop and notebook PC's when the last two major W10 revisions came out.
