Problems with lost sound again.

I ran some driver updates and afterwards, I have no sound.

Unable to use Restore Point.

The diagnostics are not helpful.

It seems HP do not support Windows 11 even though it has been running on the laptop for several years.

The option to restore using the cloud does not appeal because it will lose all my files.  More inclined to buy a new laptop if I have to start from scratch again.

I have been trying different Windows 10 drivers to see if one would run but no luck.

One possibility is to find a USB driven external loudspeaker as that might have its own drivers.

WHilst searching, I notice this seems a quite common problem?

I bought a sound bar which fits onto the top of the laptop screen and is fed from the USB - fortunately my external hard disc has a couple of spare USB.

Works OK and easier than reloading Windows!

Though my consider upgrading the laptop as well.

Thanks for the suggestions - I get the impression this is a common problem with Windows and HP laptops.
