Hi @Archon121,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you're having trouble with low sound issues on your OMEN by HP 15, particularly regarding the Realtek audio drivers. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Volume Settings:

  • Ensure that the system volume is turned up. Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and open the Volume Mixer to check individual application volumes.
  • Go to Settings > System > Sound and ensure the correct output device is selected.

Update or Roll Back Audio Drivers:

  • Update Driver:
    1. Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
    2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
    3. Right-click on Realtek (R) Audio and select Update driver.
    4. Choose Search automatically for updated driver software.
  • Roll Back Driver: If you recently updated the driver and started experiencing issues, you can roll it back:
    1. Right-click on Realtek (R) Audio in Device Manager.
    2. Select Properties.
    3. Go to the Driver tab and click Roll Back Driver if the option is available.

Uninstall and Reinstall Drivers:

  • Uninstall:
    1. Right-click on Realtek (R) Audio in Device Manager and select Uninstall device. Ensure the option to delete the driver software is checked.
    2. Restart your computer. Windows should reinstall the default audio driver automatically.
  • Reinstall:
    1. If Windows doesn't reinstall the driver, visit the HP Drivers & Software page for your specific laptop model.
    2. Download and install the latest Realtek High Definition Audio drivers available.

Check Playback Devices:

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  • In the Playback tab, right-click and ensure Show Disabled Devices is checked. If you see any disabled devices, enable them.

Adjust Audio Enhancements:

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select Sounds.
  • In the Playback tab, right-click your active playback device and select Properties.
  • Go to the Enhancements tab and check or uncheck options like Bass Boost and Virtual Surround to see if it affects sound quality.

Use Windows Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot.
  • Select Additional troubleshooters and run the Playing Audio troubleshooter.

Check for Windows Updates:

  • Make sure your Windows is fully updated by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

BIOS Update:

  • Sometimes, updating the BIOS can resolve hardware compatibility issues. Check the HP support site for any BIOS updates available for your model.

Reset Sound Settings:

  • If you have made extensive changes to your sound settings, consider resetting them to default:
    • In the Sound settings, click on Advanced sound options and reset any changes you've made.

Note:

  • Ensure that the speakers and audio equipment you are using are functioning correctly. If possible, test with different headphones or speakers.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

bios is up to date, when i uninstall the driver from device manager ( realtek R audio) ,after restarting the laptop , it's appearing automatically. which has low sound and low bass, I think whatever i have to do is manually. if you want to check my laptop i can give a video.

Windows update settings always bring that lower quality audio driver (Realtek (R) audio) , even i updated that realtek R audio , which sound is still totally low . just tell me how can remove that **bleep** and install (Realtek high definition audio). i can't even use Dolby Atmos ,etc. which is saying audio driver not detected, your device doesn't support HD audio.

Hi @Archon121,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To resolve the low sound issue and get your Realtek High Definition Audio driver working properly on Windows 10, follow these steps:

Step 1: Uninstall Current Audio Drivers

Open Device Manager:

  • Right-click the Start button and select Device Manager.

Locate Audio Drivers:

  • Expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.

Uninstall the Driver:

  • Right-click on your current Realtek audio driver (e.g., "Realtek High Definition Audio") and select Uninstall device.
  • Make sure to check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device if prompted.

Restart Your Computer:

  • This will remove the driver and force Windows to reinstall it upon reboot.

Step 2: Install Realtek High Definition Audio Driver

Download the Latest Driver:

  • Visit the Realtek website or your laptop manufacturer’s support page to download the latest Realtek HD audio driver compatible with your system.

Install the Driver:

  • Run the downloaded driver installer and follow the on-screen instructions.

Restart Your Computer Again:

  • This ensures the new driver is properly installed.

Step 3: Adjust Audio Settings

  1. Right-click on the Sound Icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
  2. Go to the Playback tab, select your audio device, and click on Properties.
  3. Under the Advanced tab, set the default format to a higher quality (e.g., 24 bit, 48000 Hz) and click OK.

Step 4: Enable Dolby Atmos (if applicable)

  1. If you have Dolby Atmos software, ensure it is installed. You can find it in the Microsoft Store.
  2. Open the Dolby Atmos app and check if it recognizes your audio device.

Step 5: Windows Updates

Check for Updates:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, and check for updates. This may include audio driver updates.

Pause Updates: If Windows keeps reverting to a lower-quality driver, you can temporarily pause updates for a while to keep the new driver active.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
