Hi @jpeve30,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I understand that you are having issues with the audio.
If your HP Pavilion x360 14-inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC (14-ek0000) is showing "no audio installed" despite the speaker drivers appearing to be fine, there could be an issue with the audio drivers, audio service, or system settings. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and fix this problem:
Steps to Resolve "No Audio Installed" Issue
Restart the Laptop:
- Start with a simple restart of your laptop to reset any temporary glitches.
Check Audio Settings:
- Click on the speaker icon in the taskbar and ensure the correct output device (e.g., speakers) is selected.
- Ensure the volume is not muted or set too low.
Run Windows Audio Troubleshooter:
- Go to Settings > System > Sound.
- Scroll down and click on Troubleshoot under the Advanced section.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to identify and resolve any issues.
Check Audio Services:
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Look for Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder in the list.
- Ensure these services are running:
- If not, right-click on each service and select Start.
- If they are running, right-click and select Restart.
Update Audio Drivers:
- Open Device Manager by right-clicking on the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek, Intel, etc.) and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for drivers. If a new driver is found, install it.
- If the problem persists, try selecting Uninstall device, then restart your laptop, which will prompt Windows to reinstall the drivers automatically.
Install Audio Drivers from HP Support:
- Go to the HP Support website and enter your laptop's model number (14-ek0000).
- Download and install the latest audio drivers available for your specific model.
Please find the remaining steps in the next post.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.

Hi @jpeve30,
Please find the remaining steps below.
Check for Windows Updates:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
- Click Check for updates and install any available updates, including optional ones that may include audio driver updates.
Reinstall the Audio Driver:
- In Device Manager, right-click on the audio device and select Uninstall device.
- Check the option to Delete the driver software for this device, then click Uninstall.
- Restart the laptop, and Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver automatically.
- Alternatively, install the driver manually by downloading it from the HP website.
Disable Audio Enhancements:
- Go to Control Panel > Sound.
- Select your audio device and click Properties.
- Go to the Enhancements tab and check Disable all enhancements.
- Click Apply, then OK.
Reset BIOS to Defaults:
- Restart your laptop and enter the BIOS (press Esc or F10 during startup).
- Look for an option to Reset BIOS to Default Settings and apply it.
- Save changes and exit the BIOS.
Restore System:
- If the issue started recently, you might want to use System Restore to revert to a point when the audio was working correctly:
- Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
- Choose a restore point from before the problem began and follow the prompts.
By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the "no audio installed" issue on your HP Pavilion x360.
Check for Hardware Issues:
- If all else fails, there could be a hardware problem with the audio components. In this case, contacting HP Phone Support.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
