Hi @Limb1509, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your microphone is not working even after reinstalling Windows, here are some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue:
Check if the Microphone is Enabled
- Press Win + X and select Device Manager.
- Expand Audio inputs and outputs.
- Right-click on Microphone and click Enable device (if available).
- If enabled, right-click again and select Update driver > Search automatically for drivers.
Set Microphone as Default
- Right-click on the Speaker icon in the taskbar and select Sound settings.
- Scroll down to Input and select the correct microphone from the dropdown.
- Click Device properties and make sure it’s not muted.
Check Privacy Settings
- Go to Settings > Privacy & security > Microphone.
- Ensure Microphone access is turned ON.
- Enable Let apps access your microphone.
Run Windows Troubleshooter
- Open Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters.
- Scroll down and run Recording Audio troubleshooter.
Reinstall Audio Drivers
- Open Device Manager.
- Expand Sound, video and game controllers.
- Right-click on your audio device (Realtek, Intel, etc.) and select Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop—Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
Install HP Official Audio Drivers
- Go to HP’s official website: HP Support
- Enter your laptop model: HP Pavilion Laptop 14-dv2xxx.
- Download and install the latest Audio Driver from the Drivers & Software section.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
