Using HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. Running on Windows 10 it is a 64-bit PC.
Microphone (2-High Definition Audio Devices) does not record any audio. I have tried to record via a built-in Windows voice recorder and Audacity. I cannot record any audio either using my voice or recording audio from a YouTube video for example.
I have tried to update the driver using the Device Manager, but there was no solution. I do not know the hardware maker's name and because of this I can not download and install the new version of the audio driver.
Please help me. Thank you.

Hi @yusuf51,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're facing issues with your microphone on your HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC. Since updating the driver through Device Manager didn't resolve the problem, there are a few more steps you can try.
- Check Microphone Settings: Ensure that the microphone is not muted and its volume is turned up. You can do this by right-clicking the speaker icon in the system tray, selecting "Sounds," then navigating to the "Recording" tab. Right-click on your microphone and make sure it's enabled and set as the default device.
- Run Audio Troubleshooter: Windows 10 has built-in troubleshooters that can help diagnose and fix common audio problems. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters, then run the "Recording Audio" troubleshooter.
- Check Privacy Settings: Make sure that apps are allowed to access your microphone. Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone, then ensure that "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned on.
- Check for Windows Updates: Sometimes, Windows updates can include fixes for hardware issues. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update, then check for updates and install any available ones.
- Reset Audio Service: Sometimes, restarting the Windows Audio service can resolve microphone issues. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type "services.msc," then locate the Windows Audio service. Right-click it and select "Restart."
- Update Audio Drivers Using Windows Update: In Device Manager, right-click on your audio device, select "Update driver," then choose "Search automatically for updated driver software." Windows will search for and install any available updates for your audio drivers.
- Use HP Support Assistant: HP provides a support tool called HP Support Assistant that can help you identify and install updates for your HP hardware. You can download it from the HP website if you don't have it already installed.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
