HP Pavilion x360 Laptop - 14-dw0022na
Microsoft Windows 11

For a few days, my computer has not been recognising its internal speakers and microphone. It simply says no output / input devices found, and so troubleshooting has not been helpful.

HP Audio check is saying there's a hardware problem - that no speakers or microphone are found.

I have tried to uninstall and update audio drivers - for the most part, it had no impact, but Intel High Definition Audio seems to have an error. It says Windows could not find drivers for my device, and I'm not sure how to download them in any other way!

Have a HP Laptop PC 17-by4061nr by4000 (18B36AV)
After running:
HP Support Assistant: Audio Diagnostics, got:
No speakers found (Hardware problem detected)
No microphones found (Hardware problem detected)
Just after a Windows Upgrade. Notebook was on the desk during this entire time.
Attached external USB Logitech speakers and can hear audio. Microphone still does not work.
When Logi speakers are disconnected, there is no audio.

During the Audio Test, I can hear the test audio ONLY when the Logitech speakers are attached.

I was FINALLY able to solve this audio and microphone problem,  I tried so many diagnostics and driver updates without any success.  The external USB Logitech speakers did work for the audio but the microphone would not work.  On one of my reboots (after a BIOS check), I head a few 'notes' as the opening screen popped up.  WHOA!!!  It appears that since I felt that my HP 17-by4061nr uses Realtek audio drivers. when I did google 'realtek audio driver windows 11', I found "

Realtek High Definition Audio Driver for Windows 11 which allowed me to download: Audio-Win10_Win11-6.0.9452.1.zip . I unzippd this file in a separate folder and ran the Setup.exe which did do an installation but did give me an error message about a driver not found for my system.

After these few notes, I checked the Device Manager once again and saw under Audio inputs and outputs: Microphone Array (Realtek Audio) and Speaker (Realtek Audio) and under System Devices: three (3) Intel Smart Sound Technology items. All three have the ability to update the drivers (which I will NOT attempt if my audio and microphone operate successfully now.

Remember, I have some computer knowledge but nowhere near the levels exhibited by some of these moderators. So take my above 'analysis' carefully.

That didn't work for me, but I found a message here: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/No-Audio-Output-Driver-for-HP-Pavilion-x360-Laptop/td-p...

I had an outdated Intel Smart Sound Driver and once I updated it, everything seems to be working!

Thank you.
