Victus by HP 16.1 inch Gaming Laptop PC 16-s0000 (76T53AV)

The microphone does not work no matter what drivers I try to install. Also, I do not have access to HP Audio Control even after reinstalling the computer's default driver multiple times.

Hi @Joxe,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

If the microphone on your HP Victus s0027ns is not working despite reinstalling drivers and you do not have access to HP Audio Control, here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:

Check Physical Connections:

  • If you're using an external microphone or headset, ensure it is properly connected to the correct port (microphone input or combo audio jack).
  • For built-in microphones, ensure nothing is physically obstructing the microphone on the laptop.

Set Correct Input Device:

  • Right-click on the sound icon in the system tray and select Sounds.
  • Go to the Recording tab, find your microphone, and ensure it is set as the Default Device.
  • If the microphone is not visible, right-click inside the window and select Show Disabled Devices and Show Disconnected Devices.

Check Microphone Privacy Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
  • Ensure that Microphone access for this device is turned on.
  • Scroll down and ensure that apps you want to use the microphone with have access.

Reinstall Audio Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager by right-clicking the Start button and selecting Device Manager.
  • Expand Sound, video, and game controllers.
  • Right-click on your audio device (e.g., Realtek High Definition Audio) and select Uninstall device.
  • Check the box that says Delete the driver software for this device and click Uninstall.
  • Restart your computer, and Windows should automatically reinstall the default driver.
  • If the microphone still doesn't work, go to the HP Support website to download and install the latest audio driver for your model.

Check for HP Audio Control:

  • If HP Audio Control is missing, try installing or updating it via the Microsoft Store by searching for HP Audio Control.
  • Alternatively, you can look for the HP Audio Switch application as it often provides basic audio settings controls if HP Audio Control is unavailable.

Please find the remaining steps below.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Joxe,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Run the Windows Audio Troubleshooter:

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
  • Select Recording Audio and run the troubleshooter. Follow the on-screen instructions to detect and fix any issues.

Update the BIOS:

  • Visit the HP Support website and check if there is a BIOS update available for your HP Victus s0027ns. Sometimes audio issues are related to outdated firmware.

Check Audio Service Status:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Scroll down and find Windows Audio and Windows Audio Endpoint Builder services. Ensure both are running. If not, right-click each service and select Start. If they are running, you can also try restarting them.

Test Microphone in Different Applications:

  • Test the microphone in multiple applications to rule out software-specific issues. Use the Voice Recorder app in Windows or a web-based mic testing tool to verify if the microphone is working.

Check Hardware Diagnostics:

  • Use the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics Windows tool, which you can download from the HP Support website. Run the audio test to check if there’s a hardware issue with the microphone.

  • Check Sound Enhancements: Sometimes disabling sound enhancements can resolve microphone issues. Right-click on your microphone in the Sound settings and go to Properties > Enhancements tab and select Disable all enhancements.
  • Test with an External Microphone: If an external microphone works but the internal one doesn’t, it may indicate a hardware issue with the built-in microphone.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the microphone, and you may need to contact HP phone support for further assistance or consider a hardware repair.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
