Hi @Leni_11,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with both the internal and external microphones on your HP Envy 15. Let's work through some troubleshooting steps to resolve this:
1. Verify Microphone Settings:
- Check Privacy Settings:
- Go to Settings > Privacy > Microphone.
- Ensure that "Allow apps to access your microphone" is turned On.
- Verify that the specific applications you intend to use have microphone access enabled.
- Set Default Recording Device:
- Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select "Sounds".
- Navigate to the "Recording" tab.
- Ensure your microphone is set as the default recording device.
2. Update or Reinstall Audio Drivers:
- Using Device Manager:
- Press Windows + X and select "Device Manager".
- Expand "Audio inputs and outputs".
- Right-click your microphone device and choose "Update driver".
- If updating doesn't help, consider uninstalling the driver and restarting your laptop; Windows will attempt to reinstall the appropriate driver upon reboot.
3. Run HP PC Hardware Diagnostics:
- Download and install the latest HP PC Hardware Diagnostics from the HP Support website.
- After installation, open the application, select "Component Tests", and then choose "Audio" to test the microphone.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
