@Vishal676, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your microphone is not working on the HP Pavilion Laptop PC 15-eg1000 when trying to record audio or communicate over Zoom or other platforms, you can follow these steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

Step 1: Check Microphone Settings

Access Settings:

  • Click on the Search icon in the taskbar, type Microphone privacy settings in the search box, and select it.

Privacy Settings:

  • Make sure that apps are allowed to use the microphone. Enable access for apps like Zoom under the Allow apps to access your microphone section.

Step 2: Update Audio Drivers

  • Device Manager:
    1. Search for "Device Manager" in the Start menu and open it.
    2. Find and expand the "Audio inputs and outputs" section.
    3. Right-click on your microphone and select "Update Driver."
    4. Choose "Search automatically for updated driver software."

Step 3: Check Sound Settings

Sound Settings:

  • Right-click the sound icon in the taskbar and select "Open Sound settings."

Input Device:

  • Under the Input section, ensure your microphone is selected as the input device.
  • Test the microphone to see if the audio level bar moves, indicating it is picking up sound.

Step 4: Check Physical Connections and Privacy Shutter

  • Ensure that the camera privacy cover is open if you have one, as closing it could mute your microphone.

Step 5: Troubleshoot Audio Issues

  1. Windows Troubleshooter:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    • Select "Recording Audio" and run the troubleshooter.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Sir,

With regret, I would like to inform you that I have tried all the methods you suggested in the community today as well as earlier, but none of them have worked, and the microphone is still not functioning.
Could you please suggest any other solutions?

Thank you.
