Hi @Deep2003
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
If the microphone mute button on your HP 15.6 inch Laptop PC (15-fc0000) is not functioning as expected, you can try the following troubleshooting steps to resolve the issue:
Check Keyboard Shortcuts and Drivers
Confirm Keyboard Shortcuts:
- Ensure that you are using the correct keyboard combination to mute the microphone. Sometimes the mute function might require pressing Fn + F8 if the function keys have secondary functions enabled.
Update Audio Drivers:
- Outdated or incorrect audio drivers can affect the functionality of hardware buttons. Here's how you can update your audio drivers in Windows 11:
- Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
- Locate and expand the Sound, video and game controllers section.
- Right-click on the AMD Audio Devices and select Update driver.
- Choose Search automatically for updated driver software and follow the prompts to complete the update.
Check HP Support Assistant:
- Use the HP Support Assistant software to check for any updates or troubleshooting steps specific to your laptop model. You can download it from the HP website if it's not installed.
System Updates:
- Ensure your Windows 11 operating system is up-to-date, as system updates can resolve compatibility issues. Go to Settings > Windows Update and click on Check for updates.
Audio Settings:
- Check the microphone settings within Windows 11 to ensure it’s configured correctly:
- Go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Microphone.
- Ensure apps have permission to use the microphone and that the microphone is not muted in software settings.
These steps should help you address the issue with the microphone mute button.
