The inbuilt microphone is not working.  I have updated, rolled back, reset drivers and even done a full windows reset but it still won't work.  It does seem to be working the  but the volume level is extremely weak.  I have adjusted the level where possible but to no avail.  Any advice appreciated!

Welcome to HP Forums,

Let's get straight to it!

There are a few things you can do to identify the cause of this issue and resolve it accordingly:

Step 1: Check the microphone hardware

  1. If the microphone operates on battery power, make sure the batteries are correctly seated and are functional. If the microphone operates on external power, make sure that all the power connections are secure and the power cord is connected to a power source.

  2. If the microphone has a volume control, make sure it is turned up half way.

  3. Disconnect the microphone from the computer port, and then re-connect it. If the microphone uses a USB port, try connecting it to a different USB port on the computer.

  4. Connect the microphone to another device, such as another computer, and try to use it.

    • If the microphone functions correctly when connected to the other device, then a driver or computer recognition issue might be causing the problem. Continue to the next section of this document to check for an update to the audio driver.

    • If the microphone does not function correctly when connected to the alternative device, then the microphone might need to be replaced.

If the issue persists, refer to my private message as you seem to have done everything else,
I would, however, recommend you check with an alternate headphone with microphone and check if that works before you try the suggestions on my PM:

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful, give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Sorry None of the suggestions helped me either so I gave up on it.  You might have to use an external microphone!
