Microsoft not working in teams

Hi @sb256,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand you're experiencing an issue where the microphone is not working in Microsoft Teams on your Windows 11 PC. This is commonly caused by the incorrect recording device being selected, although we'd like to gather a few more details to provide the most appropriate assistance.

Could you please let us know:

  • What is the exact model or product number of your HP device?
  • Are you using the built-in microphone or an external USB/Bluetooth headset?
  • Does the microphone work in other applications, such as Voice Recorder, or is the issue only occurring in Microsoft Teams?

In the meantime, please try the following:

Set the correct default microphone

If the microphone is not working with Microsoft Teams, change the default microphone to resolve the issue.

  1. In Windows, search for and open Control Panel, and then select Sound.
  2. Click the Recording tab on the Sound window.
Recording tab in the Sound window
  3. Select the microphone to use, click Set Default, and then click OK.
Set Default option in the Sound window

After completing these steps, restart Microsoft Teams and test the microphone again.

Please let us know the exact HP model and the results of the above steps. This information will help us determine whether the issue is related to the microphone settings, Teams, or the device drivers, so we can guide you with the next appropriate steps.

Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
