I'm at a loss. I've tried everything - driver updates, bios updates, chatting with HP support... At a complete loss, 2 re-installs of windows. Nothing has helped.
The microphone array that's built-in to the laptop is TOO quiet. It's almost like Windows doesn't detect it as a microphone and thinks it's a louder line-level source. If I maximize the volume slider under recording devices, if I snap my fingers directly in front of the microphone, I can make the input levels display the snap. That being said, no one can hear me on conference calls.
One other thing I noticed was the microphone levels does NOT have the "microphone boost" slider.
Has anyone come up with a fix for this? I'm losing my mind.

If the document did not help you resolve the issue, try restoring the BIOS and then check for windows updates.

I followed these steps from a support chat agent and they did not resolve the issue. I did a clean windows 10 re-install and that seemed to resolve it. I'm frustrated that to resolve this issue I had to rebuild the entire computer. That's pure insanity. that would be like me having to rebuild a car because I had a flat tire.
